POONCH, DECEMBER 26: Poonch Administration: Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma on Friday chaired a high-level meeting to finalize comprehensive arrangements for the forthcoming Parkash Utsav (Gurpurab) of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, with celebrations culminating in a grand Nagar Kirtan on December 28 and the main religious observance on December 30, 2025.The preparatory review, held in the DC Office Conference Hall, saw the participation of senior district officials, including Senior Superintendent of Police Shafqat Hussain Bhatt, Additional Deputy Commissioner Tahir Mustafa Malik, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Parvaiz Ahmed Khan, and heads of key civic departments. Religious leaders and prominent citizens were also present, underscoring the collaborative community effort.Detailed discussions centered on ensuring seamless and secure celebrations. Key directives were issued to concerned departments for uninterrupted essential services and robust safety protocols. The Deputy Commissioner instructed the Public Health Engineering and Power Development Departments to guarantee continuous water and electricity supply throughout the festival period, with water tankers to be stationed at major venues.Sanitation emerged as a prime focus, with the Municipal Executive Officer directed to conduct a special cleanliness drive around all Gurdwaras and identified religious sites. The Chief Medical Officer was tasked with deploying sufficient ambulances along the Nagar Kirtan procession route for immediate medical response. The Fire & Emergency Services department was placed on high alert to implement all necessary fire safety measures.Security arrangements were thoroughly deliberated. Deputy Commissioner Sharma directed police authorities to deploy adequate personnel along the procession path and at sensitive locations to ensure incident-free events. SSP Shafket Hussain Bhatt affirmed that elaborate security and traffic management plans are being finalized to maintain law and order. He issued a public appeal for peaceful and harmonious celebrations.The administration’s coordinated preparations aim to facilitate a devout, secure, and joyous observance of the sacred occasion for all devotees.
