Poonch, April 19: The District Administration in Poonch has scheduled a series of Civil Defence mock drills, including blackout exercises, across the district from April 20 to April 24, officials said on Saturday.
According to an official communication issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, the exercises are aimed at enhancing emergency preparedness and response mechanisms in the district.
All key departments, including Police, Health, Public Works Department (PWD), Jal Shakti, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and Fire & Emergency Services, have been directed to coordinate closely with Civil Defence authorities to ensure the smooth conduct of the drills.
The administration has instructed the concerned departments to make necessary arrangements well in advance, including public awareness measures, logistical support, and inter-departmental coordination.
Officials said that the exercise will involve simulated emergency scenarios, including air raid situations and blackout protocols, to assess the readiness of various agencies and the public.
“The objective of these drills is to strengthen preparedness and ensure effective coordination among all stakeholders in case of any emergency,” an official said.
Concerned officers have also been directed to submit detailed action taken reports to the district administration for onward submission to higher authorities.
The administration has urged the public to remain calm and cooperate fully during the drill period, as these measures are essential for ensuring public safety in case of real emergencies.
