Srinagar, December 29: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Saturday commemorated the 140th Foundation Day of the All India Congress Committee at its party headquarters in Srinagar.
Addressing the occasion, JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra renewed the party’s resolve to intensify the campaign for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood under the slogan “Hamari Riyasat, Hamara Haq” (Our State, Our Right).
Speaking at the monthly conference of Block Presidents held alongside the celebrations, Karra reflected on the Congress party’s foundational values and its historic contribution to India’s democratic evolution and national development over the past 140 years.
He underscored that public service, unity, and the empowerment of the people remain the party’s core mission.
During his address, Karra conducted a detailed review of the activities undertaken by Block Presidents over the previous month.
He urged party functionaries to strengthen their grassroots connect, remain closely engaged with the public, and work consistently to consolidate the organisation at the local level.Recognition of Grassroots Efforts:
As part of the programme, Karra presented certificates of appreciation to Block Presidents and active workers from the Kashmir Division who played a significant role in advancing the “Hamari Riyasat, Hamara Haq” campaign.
The campaign seeks the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s constitutional and political status as it existed prior to the abrogation of Article 370.
The event concluded with an in-depth deliberation on the party’s future course of action, including plans for enhanced block-level activities and strategies to effectively carry forward the statehood restoration movement.
Emphasising the current political context, Karra stressed the need for the Congress to maintain a clear and principled stance while remaining proactive in addressing public concerns.
