POONCH, JAMMU & KASHMIR: – In a swift and successful intervention, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) of Poonch rescued a minor child from a situation of labor and facilitated his safe reunion with his family in Aligarh, officials confirmed on Tuesday.The operation began after the committee was alerted to a child found engaged in labor within the Poonch district. Acting promptly under relevant child protection laws, CWC members secured the child and presented him before the committee to ensure immediate care, protection, and necessary legal procedures.Following the initial rescue, the child was provided with temporary shelter, psychosocial support, and comprehensive counseling. After stabilization, the case was formally presented to the Deputy Commissioner of Poonch for further directives.Upon the Deputy Commissioner’s review and approval, arrangements were made for the child’s secure transit to Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, where he was successfully reunited with his family. The entire rescue and rehabilitation process was supervised by the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, and the District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) to ensure all legal and welfare protocols were followed in the child’s best interest.Officials credited the timely action and dedication of Rohit Khajuria, whose vigilance and efforts were instrumental in identifying the case and initiating the rescue. The CWC Poonch praised his commitment, which they said ensured the child could escape exploitation and begin a safer, more hopeful chapter with his family.In a statement, the CWC Poonch emphasized:”Every child deserves a childhood free from exploitation and abuse. Child labor constitutes a grave violation of children’s rights, and we remain steadfast in protecting every vulnerable child. We urge the public to report any instance of child labor or abuse to enable timely intervention.”The committee reiterated its commitment to enforcing child rights and encouraged community collaboration to build a protective environment for children across the district.
