New Delhi, December 26: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday called for the creation of a common Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) structure across all state police forces and the establishment of a robust, integrated anti-terror grid capable of swift and coordinated response. He said such a framework is crucial to ensure uniform preparedness at every level to effectively counter terrorism.Addressing the inaugural session of the two-day Anti-Terrorism Conference 2025, organised by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in New Delhi, Mr. Shah announced that the Centre will soon unveil a new plan aimed at launching a “360-degree offensive against organised crime.” The initiative, he added, will serve as a core pillar of India’s zero-terror policy.During the event, the Home Minister also launched two national databases the Organised Crime Network Database and the Weapons Database for lost, looted, and recovered arms. Both systems, developed and hosted by the NIA, will be accessible to law enforcement agencies across the country to enhance intelligence sharing and coordination.Mr. Shah emphasised that the fight against terrorism requires seamless cooperation between central and state agencies. A unified structure, shared intelligence, and coordinated operations can greatly strengthen our collective capacity to prevent and respond to terror threats, he said.He further underlined that the upcoming policy framework would focus not only on dismantling terror networks but also on cutting off their financial, logistical, and arms supply chains. Our goal is not just reaction but prevention to build a system so strong that terrorism finds no space to grow, he asserted. The conference brought together senior police officials, intelligence experts, and counter-terrorism specialists from across India to discuss strategies for improving national security and operational synergy among agencies.
