Tens of thousands of people participated in coordinated demonstrations across the United States on Saturday as part of the third wave of “No Kings” protests, a growing movement opposing several policies of President Donald Trump’s administration.

The protests were held in major cities including New York, Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and Dallas, as well as in smaller towns. According to organisers, the demonstrations represent a broad-based response to concerns over governance, economic conditions, immigration enforcement, and foreign policy decisions.

In Washington, DC, demonstrators gathered near the National Mall and marched past the Lincoln Memorial. In New York City, large crowds assembled in Times Square, leading authorities to temporarily restrict traffic in surrounding areas.

In Los Angeles, protests took place in the downtown area, where law enforcement reported some tensions between demonstrators and federal officers. Officials said a small number of arrests were made following isolated incidents.

Similar demonstrations were reported in several other cities, with local authorities monitoring the situation and facilitating crowd management.

Organisers of the “No Kings” movement state that their demonstrations are intended to express concern over what they describe as expanding executive authority, stricter immigration enforcement measures, and the rising cost of living.

Some protesters carried placards and chanted slogans calling for political accountability. Public statements issued by organisers ahead of the demonstrations emphasised support for democratic institutions and civil rights.

A spokesperson for the White House dismissed the protests, describing them as politically motivated. The administration has consistently defended its policies, stating that its actions are aimed at addressing national challenges, including border security and economic stability.

President Donald Trump has previously rejected criticism of his leadership style, stating in recent remarks that his policies are necessary to address what he describes as a national crisis.

In Minnesota, protests drew attention to earlier incidents involving deaths during encounters with federal immigration enforcement officials. Demonstrators gathered near the State Capitol in St Paul, where local leaders addressed the crowd.

Authorities have said investigations into those incidents are ongoing.

While the majority of demonstrations were reported as peaceful, officials in some cities confirmed limited clashes.

In Los Angeles, authorities reported arrests linked to alleged assaults on federal personnel and failure to disperse. In Dallas, police reported minor confrontations involving counter-protesters, resulting in several detentions.

Law enforcement agencies emphasised that most participants complied with regulations, and the overall situation remained under control.

Organisers have described the current wave of protests as the largest since the movement began last year. Estimates regarding participation in earlier demonstrations have not been independently verified.

Despite this, the continued turnout indicates sustained public engagement with the issues raised by the movement.

Solidarity protests were also reported in several international cities, including Paris, London, and Lisbon, where participants expressed support for the movement and raised similar concerns.

Since returning to office in January 2025, President Trump has introduced a series of policy measures through executive actions, including changes to federal agencies and immigration enforcement strategies.
