Poonch:The district of Poonch observed the 359th Prakash Purab of the tenth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, with a grand and spiritually enriching Nagar Kirtan that reflected deep devotion, discipline, and communal harmony.The religious procession commenced from the Singh Sabha Gurdwara and moved through various parts of the town, witnessing the enthusiastic participation of a large number of devotees from different sections of society. The entire route resonated with an atmosphere of reverence, faith, and collective spiritual energy.A central feature of the Nagar Kirtan was the sacred presence of the Holy Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, reverently placed and beautifully adorned, accompanied by the Panj Pyare, symbolising the eternal Sikh values of faith, sacrifice, equality, and righteousness. Youth participants captivated the gathering with well-coordinated demonstrations of traditional Gatka and martial arts, reflecting the martial spirit and disciplined heritage of Sikh history.Addressing the congregation, President of the District Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (DGPC), Poonch, Sardar Narendra Singh, spoke at length on the life, teachings, and supreme sacrifices of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, emphasising his unwavering commitment to justice, courage, and human dignity.General Secretary of DGPC Poonch, Sardar Harcharan Singh, highlighted the historical significance of Sikh traditions and the timeless relevance of the Guru’s teachings. He remarked that such religious observances not only commemorate sacred occasions but also reinforce interfaith harmony, unity, and the spirit of selfless service among the people of Poonch.Joint Secretary of DGPC Poonch, Sardar Gurcharan Singh, along with President of the All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF), Sardar Paramjit Singh, also addressed the devotees, underlining the Guru’s message of bravery, equality, and steadfast adherence to truth.The occasion was graced by the presence of senior civil and police officials, including DIG Rajouri Poonch Range Tajinder Singh, Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma, and Senior Superintendent of Police Shafqat Hussain Bhatt. The District Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee expressed its sincere appreciation to the Deputy Commissioner and the Senior Superintendent of Police for their presence and for extending full administrative support to ensure the peaceful and smooth conduct of the procession.The committee also acknowledged the effective cooperation extended by the Motor Vehicles Department, Health Department, Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL), Public Health Engineering Department, Fire and Emergency Services, Municipal Committee, and other allied departments, whose coordinated efforts ensured meticulous arrangements throughout the event.Adding spiritual depth to the observance, Sikh preacher Sardar Amarjeet Singh from the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC), Amritsar, delivered an insightful discourse on the life of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and the enduring legacy of Sikhism, leaving the congregation deeply inspired.Throughout the Nagar Kirtan, soulful Gurbani Kirtan was rendered by Bhai Parvinder Singh, Bhai Sartaj Singh, and other Raagi Jathas, enveloping the procession in an atmosphere of devotion, serenity, and spiritual upliftment.
