Rajouri IED recovery prompted a swift response from security forces after a suspected explosive device containing grenades was found in the Sunderbani sector.

Rajouri,April 10:Police and security forces on Friday recovered a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) containing two grenades in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, officials said.
A police spokesperson said that the suspicious object was spotted by local residents in the Thandapani area of the Sunderbani sector, following which security agencies were alerted. A joint team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces reached the spot and immediately cordoned off the area to ensure civilian safety.
Upon preliminary inspection, the device was found to be a box containing two grenades, believed to have been configured as an improvised explosive device. Officials said the exact nature and triggering mechanism of the device would be determined after a detailed examination.
A bomb disposal squad (BDS) was deployed to the site and the explosives were safely neutralised without causing any damage, the police spokesperson confirmed.
No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the source of the explosives and any possible links to militant activity. Searches in the surrounding areas have also been intensified as a precautionary measure.
The Sunderbani sector in Rajouri district has witnessed intermittent security-related incidents in the past, prompting heightened vigilance by security forces in the region.
