Poonch, Jammu & Kashmir: A traffic police officer posted on the snow-covered Mughal Road has been suspended after a video showing him performing a dangerous stunt went viral on social media.The video shows Sub-Inspector Gul Sheraz standing on the footboard of a moving official vehicle amid heavy snowfall near Pir Ki Gali. At the time of the incident, the road was slippery and risky due to extreme winter conditions.Gul Sheraz was serving as Sector Officer (Traffic) on Mughal Road in Poonch district. The stunt, reportedly recorded to create a social media reel, sparked widespread outrage for violating traffic norms and endangering public safety.Mughal Road is considered one of the most hazardous routes during winter. Civilians regularly face life-threatening conditions while travelling on the snow-laden stretch connecting the Kashmir Valley with Jammu.Taking swift action, authorities suspended the officer on Saturday. Assistant Sub-Inspector Anil Kumar has been attached as the new Sector Officer (Traffic) for Mughal Road.Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Rural Jammu, Farooq Qaiser, ordered a departmental inquiry into the incident. He also directed the suspended officer to report immediately to Traffic Police Lines, Rural Jammu.SSP Qaiser reiterated a zero-tolerance policy towards violations by police personnel. He stated that such actions undermine public trust and pose serious risks on already dangerous roads.The incident has renewed concerns over accountability and responsible conduct by law enforcement, especially during harsh winter conditions on Mughal Road.
