Poonch, Jan 8:DDC Poonch CAPEX review: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Poonch, Ashok Kumar Sharma, on Thursday chaired a comprehensive review meeting of the CAPEX Budget 2025–26, along with Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) and Union Territory sector schemes, directing departments to ensure timely execution and optimal utilisation of funds to accelerate development across the district.
During the meeting, the DDC undertook a sector-wise assessment of ongoing and proposed projects, focusing on key areas such as power, road connectivity, water resources, irrigation, and rural infrastructure. The progress of major works, including the Prinai Power Project, solar panel installations, road and bridge construction under the Public Works Department (PWD), PMGSY projects, and NABARD-funded works, was reviewed in detail.
Blacktopping of roads, irrigation and flood control measures, and the functioning of hand pumps across various areas of the district also came up for discussion. Expressing concern over procedural delays, the DDC directed all departments to expedite tendering and work allotment processes to avoid time overruns.
Executive engineers briefed the chair on the physical and financial status of completed, ongoing, and pipeline projects. The DDC stressed strict adherence to timelines and emphasised that both physical progress and financial targets must be achieved without compromise.
Highlighting the importance of accountability, Sharma urged officers to enhance inter-departmental coordination, identify bottlenecks at an early stage, and ensure effective utilisation of public funds. He said timely completion of projects is essential to deliver tangible benefits to the people and strengthen the district’s development framework.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Shama An Ahmed, Superintendent Engineer PWD (R&B) Mahmood Ahmed, SE Hydraulic Circle Poonch Vipin Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Development Shakeel Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Rakesh Kumar, CEO Municipality Mukhtar Manhas, Chief Medical Officer Dr Parvez Ahmed Khan, CEO Municipal Council Khalil Ahmed Bandi, Tehsildar Headquarters Palvi Varma, and Executive Engineers from PWD (R&B), PMGSY, JPDCL, Ground Water and other concerned departments.
