Rusted Mortar Shell Recovered in Poonch, Safely Destroyed

Mortar shell Poonch: A mortar shell Poonch was recovered on Monday from an open field near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials said.

The explosive was spotted by villagers in Upper Ghani area of Balnoi in the Mankote sector around 11:15 am, following which police rushed to the spot and secured the area. Army bomb disposal experts were later called in and the shell was destroyed in a controlled explosion.

Officials said the operation was carried out safely and no loss of life or property was reported. Residents were advised to immediately inform authorities in case of any suspicious or explosive objects found in border areas.(Agencies)
