POONCH, April 11: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch, Shafkat Hussain, on Friday visited forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC) and interacted with residents, officials said.

Accompanied by DySP Headquarters Neeraj Sharma and DySP Operations Azhar Amin, the SSP held a public durbar where locals raised concerns related to civic amenities, security, and cross-border issues.

Addressing the gathering, the SSP said the police would take up the grievances with the concerned departments for necessary action. “We are working in coordination with other agencies to address the issues highlighted by residents,” he said.

Officials said residents were also sensitised about the risks associated with illegal cross-border activities, including smuggling and drug trafficking, and were advised to report any suspicious movement to the police.

A local resident who attended the durbar said that issues concerning basic services and security were discussed during the interaction.

The border areas of Poonch, situated along the LoC, have remained sensitive due to cross-border tensions and related security challenges.
