Baisakhi celebration in Poonch was observed on April 14 with a religious gathering at the Nangali Sahib shrine, attended by devotees and officials from the district.

Poonch, April 14: Baisakhi was observed in Poonch district on Tuesday with a religious gathering held at the Gurdwara Nangali Sahib shrine, attended by devotees and several civil and police officials.
According to organisers, the event was held in the presence of Sant Mahant Manjit Singh Ji, head of Dera Santpura Nangali Sahib. Devotees from various parts of the district arrived at the shrine for the occasion.
MLA Haveli Aijaz Ahmed Jan, DIG Rajouri-Poonch Sandeep Wazir, Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma, and SSP Shafqat Hussain Bhat were among the officials present. Senior officers from the Army also attended the event and paid respects.
The programme featured recitations of Gurbani Kirtan by Ragi Jathas. S. Harcharan Singh, General Secretary of the District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (DGPC), conducted the proceedings. Speakers addressed the gathering on the historical significance of Baisakhi and the creation of the Khalsa Panth by Guru Gobind Singh Ji in 1699.
In his address, Sant Mahant Manjit Singh Ji spoke about the importance of following the Sikh Rehat Maryada. He asked the community to adhere to the teachings of the Gurus.
The Health Department established a medical camp at the venue to provide free check-ups to visitors. Other government departments also set up informational stalls. Security arrangements were in place to manage the crowd, officials said.
The religious proceedings concluded with the recitation of Hukamnama from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The event ended with the serving of Guru Ka Langar to the attendees.
