POONCH, January 2: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Ashok Kumar Sharma, on Thursday chaired a meeting of the District Level Screening-cum-Coordination Committee to review cases under SRO-43, pertaining to the next of kin of civilians and security force personnel who lost their lives in militancy-related incidents.
The meeting, held in the DC’s office chamber, focused on assessing the status of pending cases and streamlining the process for timely relief to bereaved families. Senior Superintendent of Police Shafqat Hussain Bhatt, Additional Deputy Commissioner Tahir Mustafa Malik, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Mohammad Sayeed, along with representatives from BSF Khanetar, 6-Sector Rashtriya Rifles, and other concerned departments attended the meeting.
During the proceedings, the Additional Deputy Commissioner presented a detailed, case-wise briefing, outlining the current stage of verification and documentation in each matter. The Deputy Commissioner underscored the urgent need for expeditious disposal of all genuine cases, observing that families affected by such tragic circumstances repose great hope and trust in the government’s support mechanism.
Emphasising sensitivity and accountability, the DC directed all concerned departments to adopt a proactive and coordinated approach to ensure that procedural requirements, verifications, and inter-departmental clearances are completed without delay. He stressed that unnecessary pendency defeats the very objective of SRO-43, which is aimed at providing timely relief and rehabilitation to affected families.
The Deputy Commissioner further reiterated that district administration remains committed to extending all possible assistance to eligible beneficiaries and ensuring that justice and relief are delivered promptly, transparently, and with compassion.
