Srinagar, February 17, 2026: In a strategic initiative to revive the tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced the reopening of 14 key tourist destinations across the region. These locations had remained closed since the April 22, 2025 Pahalgam attack, which claimed the lives of 25 tourists and one local guide, prompting authorities to conduct a thorough security audit.

The reopened sites include prominent destinations across the Kashmir Valley such as Yousmarg, Doodhpathri, Dandipora Park, Peer Ki Gali, Dubjan, Padpawan, Astanpora, Tulip Garden, Thajwas Glacier, Hung Park, and Wullar/Watlab. In the Jammu division, the sites Devi Pindi, Mahu Mangat, and Mughal Maidan have been cleared for public access. Additional sites in Kashmir, including Gurez, Athwatoo, Bangus, and Ramkund in Ramban, will reopen after the seasonal snow clears.

Following last year’s closure of 48 tourist sites, the partial reopening in September 2025 restored access to 12 locations. The current decision reflects a coordinated effort between the LG’s office, local administration, and law enforcement to ensure that tourism resumes safely and sustainably.
